like when other shows have a “musical episode” at some point what is glee suppose to do with that

have a non musical episode? 

or an episode that is completely singing and no spoken dialogue? 

They could do a Buffy homage and have a silent episode.

A mass epidemic of laryngitis hits the city and Sam’s mad charades skillz are their only hope of survival. 

And I’ll also tip my hat to Chris Colfer: Sam’s feelings, his actions, and his desperation to prove himself are really, really steeped in and aware of the character’s backstory — more so than most of Glee’s staffed writers typically are.
