oh my GOD, i legitimately thought i was the only one who saw it?? he sacrificed himself to save eleanor from eternal torment, managed to escape the eternal torment that was his own punishment, only to turn around and pull THIS SHIT?? he loves her so much. i feel so validated. this is the sole high point of my 7+ years of fandom-on-tumblr, but it was worth the wait.
