“It’s not the same. No one can look at you, and see you’re different. You don’t get the same looks I do. Do you know what people think when they see me? When they see my Hijaab? Which is the first thing they see? They think I can’t form my own opinions. We’re talking about freedom of religion and so many other freedoms, here in Norway, but wearing an extra article of clothing is wrong? And people think we get married out of nowhere, and that there are all these arranged marriages and that I’ll be forcibly married to my cousin tomorrow. Do you know what people do when Elias and I walk down the street? People spit after him because they think he’s oppressing me. Elias!!! He doesn’t even want me to wear the Hijaab, because he doesn’t want me to get hate. Do you know how fucking tiring it is walking out of the door everyday, knowing it’s another day where you have to prove to a whole country that you’re not oppressed?”
An Ohio middle-school student has been accused of
threatening to shoot and kill a Muslim schoolmate, calling him a
“terrorist” and a “towel head,” police said.
A
seventh-grader at Morton Middle School in Vandalia, near Dayton, got
into an argument with another student Dec. 7 on a school bus, asking the
boy if he was going to bomb him and calling the student “son of ISIS,”
according to a police report. The seventh-grader faces a 10-day
suspension and possible expulsion, according to the school district.
Police said he also faces charges of aggravated menacing and ethnic
intimidation.
The seventh-grader was arrested and transported to a juvenile detention center.
This is the man we need running our country. I have so much respect for everything that he says and stands for. I can only hope for a world filled with people who have the half the sense that Waleed does.
