Cortez just informed me that the Dixie Chicks covered “Daddy Lessons” and bitch let me tell you how I hollered! This is absolutely one of my favorite songs of 2016 and it went straight to my Fresh Country playlist, so I’m just over the moon that the Dixie Chicks decided to add this to their setlist. I’ll give them some slack on the harmony (Marti doesn’t *quite* have the right harmony on the first verse) because the caption says they had just learned the song earlier that day, but they came through on the 3-part during the chorus.
This just started my whole week off right. I had been so mad this morning because I dreamed about a chicken biscuit and damn near cried when I woke up and realized NYC hates biscuits and I wouldn’t be able to find one. Now my spirit is set back to rights. Everything’s gonna be OK because the Dixie Chicks are covering Beyonce now and what a time to be alive.
In a series of tweets earlier today, dream hampton – a social justice activist, filmmaker, and author –
revealed that Beyoncé and Jay-Z are quietly subsidizing legal fees for
demonstrators arrested while protesting American police brutality.
Though dream hampton’s tweets are no longer on public display, Complex took screenshoots of the activist’s entire report this morning on the Carters’ recent philanthropy.
“When we needed money for bail for Baltimore protestors,” dream
hapton began on Sunday, “I asked hit Jay up, as I had for Ferguson,
wired tens of thousands in mins.”
The writer went on: “When [Black Lives Matter] needed infrastructure
money for the many chapters that we’re growing like beautiful
dandelions, Carters wrote a huge check. …and more stuff, too much to
list actually, that they always insist folk keep quiet.”
